Eye color prediction from DNA

Currently, there are some genetic panels to predict eye color by DNA analysis. These methods need to be validated for the Suisse population. More markers are needed to predict intermediate eye colors.

Human ancestry informative markers

In population genetics, an ancestry-informative marker is a DNA polymorphism that exhibits substantially different frequencies between different populations. A set of many ancestry-informative markers can be used to estimate the proportion of ancestry of an individual derived from each population. This information can be used in forensic investigation to infer the origin of the unknown person who deposited the DNA trace.
