A. Soltysik received a PhD in English from the University of Geneva in 2002 and also holds a PhD from the University of California, Irvine, since 1998. She earned her B.A. at UCLA in 1989, and wrote a Master's thesis on Walter Benjamin and Film Theory in 1991 at UCI.

Professional experience
A. Soltysik taught for 12 years at the University of Geneva, during which time she was invited to teach in Zurich for one year. Earlier, she had taught English Composition and drama at UCI and worked as a Teaching Assistant for John Carlos Rowe on a course on Vietnam War literature and for Myron Simon on a course on American Drama. She also worked as a Research Assistant for Linda Williams in Film Studies in 1991.
Since 2006, she has been teaching and researching at the English Department at UNIL.
