Research directions
Overview
My research is part of an education through sport aiming at a more inclusive, sustainable society and a better "living together" in line with international educational guidelines (UNESCO, 2016, Education 2030).
Basically, my research aims to identify the singularity (and ambivalence) of Sport and Physical Activities (SPA) as a means of socialization and education. The aim is to better understand the links between sports culture and education. I seek to identify the psychosocial processes that explain how the SPA singularities orient socialization and its outcomes such as self-esteem, attitudes towards others and groups, and personal values. These constructs are essential from an educational point of view because they guide long-term behaviors.
From an applied and interventional perspective, the aim is to build on the knowledge of these processes in order to improve and develop educational programs through SPA, to better identify the role of Physical Education within educational systems, and to innovate in the face of certain current and/or persistent educational and health issues (e.g., inclusion, prevention of discrimination and bullying, values development, addictions and well-being). Interventions and trainings are therefore developed and their effects are empirically tested in collaboration with educational teams dealing with the mentioned issues.
