Antonio Abellán is a Senior Landslide Researcher currently working at the Institute of Earth Sciences (ISTE), University of Lausanne.

He studied Engineering Geology at the University of Alicante and completed his studies on the Technical University of Catalonia and University of Barcelona thanks to a national mobility fellowship, being awarded with a SecondPrice on this discipline at National level.He carried out his PhD at RISKNAT group (University of Barcelona) dealing with the analysis of rockfall phenomenon using remote sensing techniques, with emphasis on change detection and spatial prediction, being awarded with an European Mention. He did his post-doc at the Institut de géomatique et d'analyse du risque (IGAR) in Lausanne (Switzerland).

He is fluent in different languages (English, French, Spanish and Catalan) and highly motivated in learning and developing new research methods and techniques. He loves outdoors sports and nature.
