Monitoring of slope movements using terrestrial laser scanning

The 3D terrestrial laser scanner system provides point clouds of the topography, which can be used to detect changes in the topography linked to slope movements (shallow landslides, rockfalls, rockslides) or to erosion (debris flows, flank erosion)
My researches focus mainly on shallow landslides and large rockslides and the interpretation of the measured changes in terms of instability mechanism
Therefore, we study a large number of sites in Switzerland, like the Eiger (BE), Val Canaria (TI), Garde de Bordon (VS), Varvallanna (FR), but also in Norway (Åknes, Tafjord, Nordnes, Revdalsfjellet). We also follow the evolution of a debris flow channel (Illgraben, VS, Switzerland), shallow landslides along the Sorge river (VD, Switzerland), rock glaciers in the region of Verbier (VS, Switzerland) and landslides in quick clays in Québec (Canada)

Landslides investigation and monitoring

Within the framework of the European project SafeLand "Living with landslide risk in Europe: Assessment, effects of global change, and risk management strategies", the most active part of the researchs is focused on landslides investigation and monitoring.
