Présentation

The Department of Immunobiology at the University of Lausanne, formerly known as the Department of Biochemistry, is at the forefront of immunological research. The department’s research teams are dedicated to unraveling the complexities of innate and adaptive immune responses. They focus on understanding mechanisms of the immune system and the pathways behind both sterile and pathogen-induced inflammation, as well as investigating cell death, mitochondrial biology, and membrane dynamics.

Situated at the Epalinges UNIL-Biopôle campus, the department is centrally located within the vibrant Centre of Immunity and Infection (CIIL) community. This placement allows researchers access to cutting-edge technology, the ability to participate in seminars led by renowned experts, and opportunities for collaboration with various companies located on the Biopôle campus.

Education forms a core pillar of the department's mission. It plays a crucial role in the Faculty of Biology and Medicine at the University of Lausanne by contributing to undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral teaching programs. The department oversees the master’s program in Medical Biology and coordinates the Ph.D. program in cancer and immunology.

The department's commitment to academic excellence is clear in its dedication to conducting pioneering research and nurturing the next generation of scientific leaders.
