Les usages de Jésus au XXe siècle

This academic research project studies the ways in which Jesus Christ is "used" in Arts, Films and Literature since the twentieth century. For Jesus became, at the end of the 19th Century, a fiction figure. First in novels, then in films with an increasing success from Renan to the Da Vinci Code, from the first filmed Passion plays to the latest Jesus-films such as Mel Gibson's.
Fiction nourishes and attests the reconsideration the Christ character goes through in modern times. And reciprocally the fictional "incarnation" of Jesus permits and indicates a new "usage" of Arts.
