Introduction

The Benjamin Constant Institute (CBC), created in 1979, is attached to the Department of History of the Faculty of Arts. It has a two-fold vocation, being both a resource and research center. It is currently collaborating on The Complete Works of Benjamin Constant and, on the basis of computerized data, publishes work guides (a chronology and catalogue of the manuscripts) that it makes accessible to researchers. Since 1980, it has published a "Critical and Analytical Bibliography", which is regularly updated and edited the "Annales Benjamin Constant". From an interdisciplinary perspective, it strives to broaden the field of its research to the 18th and 19th centuries, notably in Switzerland.
