Reuters’ Hot List of world’s 1000 most influential climate change scientists 2021
We wanted to know: Who are the scientists who have dedicated their lives to studying the climate, knowing that their work may go unheeded and do little to avert a climate catastrophe? And how do they deal with it? As one of them said: “I have a mountain of data on my shoulders, but I feel so powerless.” Even the coronavirus pandemic has laid bare the enormous challenges the scientists confront. Echoing divisive skirmishes over climate change, politics and science have done battle, as some governments appeared to dismiss or minimize established research on the virus’ spread. And despite a drop of 7% in emissions last year as the world ground almost to a halt, carbon dioxide levels continued to rise and are higher than at any point in human history. No year was hotter than 2020. It’s a reminder that even as the tumultuous events of the past year grabbed headlines, climate change relentlessly thrummed in the background. The Siberian tundra is thawing as the Arctic sees record-breaking temperatures. Australia and California have burned, and will burn again. Tropical storms are bigger and stronger than ever.

Research.com Ranking of Top 1000 Scientists in ‘Ecology & Evolution’ 2022
On April 18, 2022, Research.com released the 1st edition of the annual ranking for top scientists in the area of ecology and evolution science. This list of leading scholars is designed to offer the academic community more visibility and exposure to the influential research contributions made by those at the forefront of ecology and evolution science. For the 2022 edition of the ranking, more than 166,000 scientist profiles on Google Scholar and Microsoft Academic Graph have been examined with several indicators and metrics reviewed in order to consider each scientist’s inclusion in the ranking. The h-index threshold for approving a scholar to be considered was set to 30 if most of their publications were in the field of ecology and evolution science. The inclusion criteria for scholars to be considered into the ranking of top scientists are based on the discipline h-index, the proportion of contributions made within the given discipline in addition to the awards and achievements of the scientists.

From Science Watch: In our Special Topic on Climate Change research over the past decade, the work of Dr. Antoine Guisan ranks at #9 by total citations and #12 by cites per paper, based on 26 papers cited a total of 2,040 times. According to Essential Science IndicatorsSM from Thomson Reuters, Dr. Guisan's record includes 55 papers, the majority of which are classified under Environment & Ecology, cited a total of 3,074 times between January 1, 1999 and August 31, 2009.
To examine highly cited research on climate change over the last decade, Science Watch turned to a special extraction of Thomson Reuters-indexed literature, based on such keywords as "global warming," "climate change," "human impact," and other pertinent terms, in journal articles published and cited between 1999 and the spring of 2009. This search produced upwards of 28,000 papers. From this set, Science Watch identified the most-cited institutions, authors, and journals.
